-13.6. 1986 sa v Sherman Oaks v Kalifornii sa byvalej baletke Jarnette a hypotekarnemu maklerovi Davidovi narodila dvojcata baby.Tu o 2 minuty starsiu pomenovali Ashley a mladsiu Mary-Kate. Ich kariera zacala uz v roku 1987. Ked im bolo prave 9 mesiacov, ich mama s nimi navstivila konkurz na rolu Michelle Tanner do noveho serialu "Full House". MKA rolu ziskali hlavne preto, ze vtedy ako jedine deti na konkurze reziserovi v naruci neplakali. Serial bol velmi uspesny, dvojicky Olsenove preslavil a tocil se do ich 8 rokov. Ich najmladsie detstvo s nimi prezila cela jedna generacia. Ich prve slova, kroky, vsetko bolo spojene so serialom "Full House".
Este behom serialu Mary-Kate a Ashley publikovali svoje prve knizky, videa a natocily svoje prve televizne filmy "To Grandmother's House We Go" (Jedeme k babicce) a "Double, Double Toil and Trpuble" (Trable, Trable, Tuplem Trable).
V lete 1995 serial "Full House" skonèil, v tej dobe sa uz rozbehla spolocnost Dualstar Entertainment Group a pod znackou "mary-kateandashley" se prodávaly všechny produkty MKA Olsen.
Na jesen 1995 Olsenky natocily dalsie dva filmy - "How The West Was Fun" (Jak byl dobyt zapad) a "It Takes Two" (Male dohazovacky). Kratko potom MKA vydali dve video serie "Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley" a "You are invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's Party".
Rok 1996 byl pre desat rocne Olsenky tazky - ich rodicia se rozviedli a ich otec sa za niekolko mesiacov znovu ozenil. Dvojicky zili so svojim starsim bratom Trentem a mladsiou sestrou Elizabeth u matky.
V rokoch 1996-1997 to vyzeralo, ze aj po mimoriadnom uspechu serialu "Full House" a filmu "It Takes Two", ich detska slava vyhasina. V tomto obdobi sa MKA sustredili predovsetkym na rodinu, skolu a vydavanie CD.
Mary-Kate a Ashley prekonali tazke obdobie svojho zivota a v toku 1998 natocili film "Billboard Dad" (Tata z plakatu) a odstartovali svoj druhy serial "Two of a Kind".
V obdobi rokov 1999-2003 natocili 8 filmov: 1999 - "Passport To Paris"(Vylet do Pariza), "Switching Goals"(Golova vymena); 2000 - "Our Lips Are Sealed" (Sestry v akci); 2001 - "Winning London" (Sestry v Londyne), "Holiday In The Sun" (Prazdniny na Bahamach); 2002 - "Getting There" (Prvni jizda); "When In Rome" (Vylet do Rima); 2003 - "The Challenge" (Vyzva); Medzitym stihli vytvarat svoj treti serial "So Little Time".
V 17-tich rokoch natocily zatial svoj posledny film "New York Minute" (Jeden Den v New Yorku). Od tej doby uz ani nechcu byt zname ako "Olsen twins", ale chcu byt nazyvane svojimi krstnymi menami.
V roku 2001 MKA Olsen zacaly pod znackou "mary-kateandashley" vyrabat i svoju vlastnu kolekciu modneho oblecenia a doplnkov. V sucasnej dobe sa pod znackou "mary-kateandashley" prodava skoro vsetko na co si len zpomeniete - kozmetika, oblecenie, doplnky, CD, DVD, knihy, nabytok, babiky, kalendare, plagaty, videohry... Rocny obrat spolocnosti Dualstar Entertainment Group presahuje 1 miliardu dolarov.
Mary-Kate Olsen si v roku 2004 presla anorexiou, leto stravila na liecebnej klinike v Utahu.
Ako najmladsie herecky Hollywoodu ziskaly svoju Hviezdu na Chodniku Slavy...
